  • December 06, 2017 UCSF HWRC faculty are supporting the new California Future Health Workforce Commission, composed of senior leadership from across California’s health, education, employment, labor, and government sectors and is supported by California’s leading philanthropies.
  • December 06, 2017 UCSF HWRC’s Susan Chapman and Alicia LaFrance coauthored a journal article with colleagues at the George Washington University HWRC titled "Alternative payment models lead to strategic care coordination workforce investments." The paper, published in Nursing Outlook, explores care coordination staffing in four health systems participating in new payment models, including Medicaid payment reform and Accountable Care Organizations.
  • November 30, 2017 The Gerontologist’s May 2017 issue includes an article by HWRC Faculty Brooke Hollister, Jason Flatt, and Susan Chapman titled, “Dementia-Capable Care Coordination in Duals Demonstration Programs: Workforce Needs, Promising Practices, and Policy.” The study describes the program requirements, workforce competencies, and barriers for dementia-capable care coordination within health plans from seven states participating in the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services demonstration programs for dually eligible Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries.
  • November 30, 2017 The UCSF Health Workforce Research Center (HWRC) on Long-Term Care competed successfully for a second Cooperative Agreement with the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis (NCHWA), within the U.S. Bureau of Health Workforce. We look forward to collaborating with the other HWRCs through 2022! Each year, projects are developed in collaboration with NCHWA, as well as partners across the U.S. Four new studies have begun as part of our fifth year of work.

  • January 04, 2017 UCSF Health Workforce Research Center authors Aubri Kottek, MPH, Zoey Stafford, BSN, and Joanne Spetz, PhD FAAN have published their report Remote Monitoring Technologies in Long-Term Care:Implications for Care Team Organization and Training. There is a widely accepted observation that the current health care delivery model in the U.S was not developed to manage care needs associated with extended life expectancy and growing rates of chronic conditions.
