The UCSF Health Workforce Research Center on Long-Term Care (UCSF HWRC) is a dynamic hub of policy-oriented research and investigation, established through support from the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis in the U.S. Bureau of Health Workforce. Our mission is to help answer the question: Is our health care workforce prepared to meet the growing long-term care needs of the aging U.S. population?
As Baby Boomers approach their 70s, a rapidly increasing proportion of older Americans and people with disabilities will require long-term care (LTC), both at home and in the community. The Center closely examines the health care workforce and helps shape policies to meet expanding LTC needs. Our expertise in understanding how the complex LTC workforce contributes to improving access, increasing quality, and attaining high-value health care is a key component of our work. Our research includes the workforce in nursing homes, home health care, adult day care, community-based settings, and home settings, and includes all LTC occupations.
